Congratulations DPI 2015 Graduates!

We recently said farewell to our most recent class of DPI graduates. DPI had a reception here on the 8th floor and graduates also celebrated at the Tisch Salute at Madison Square Garden. Congrats to DPI Students Michael Beckert and Anthony Tran

 

• Michael Beckert’s instagram account was recognized by Refinery29 as one of the “17 New York Photographers You NEED To Follow On Instagram”

• Big congratulations to Anthony Tran, selected as a finalist for the Serbin Communications 35th Annual College and High School Photography Contest, sponsored by Nikon, USA.

The hardcover book Best of College & High School Photography 2015 will publish the selected work of all winners, honorable mentions and finalists.

Serbin Communications received over 17,000 photographs from students in the US, Canada, and around the world. This year’s judges were: Kenda North, University of Texas at Arlington; James Rudnick, School of Visual Arts, New York; and Everard Williams, Art Center College of Design, Pasadena. College and high school entries were judged separately, and finalists will be featured in two sections in the book.

Now on View: Senior Thesis Exhibition 2015 Show One

The first of 3 exhibitions featuring works in photography, digital imaging, and multimedia by 17 graduating seniors from the class of 2015 in the Department of Photography & Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts, Emerging Media Group. The show will open Thursday, February 5th, 2015. It will remain on view at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts through March 11th, 2015.

DPI Junior Nathaniel Langston Palmer (’16) on NYTimes

DPI Junior Nathaniel Langston Palmer (’16) has been shooting along with the filming of “The Hunting Ground,” directed by Kirby Dick, described by the NYTimes Carpetbagger blog as a “searing exploration of sexual crime on college campuses and institutional cover-ups.” One of Nathaniel’s photos accompanies this mention of the film in the Carpetbagger’s Sundance preview. Tuesday was an exciting day for DPI Seniors (’15), they showed the final edits of their projects, getting the chance to relax and reflect.

Congratulations to DPI Junior William Martin and Alum Kieran Kesner, Winners in the College Photographer of the Year

Kieran Kesner (’14) won gold in the 69th College Photographer of the Year for his photo of a volunteer soldier recently shot in Western Ukraine in the portrait category. William Martin (’16) won gold in the Documentary category with a photo essay about a family struggling to make ends meet in Cuba.
