When creating I usually like to compose pieces that are reflective of myself or the materials I'm working with. with the newspapers, I wanted to reflect on how the constant abundance of information causes me to feel lost in the world I live in. My thoughts on the news become less about what I see, but more about what I fail to take in and understand. With the deconstruction of the newspaper, I intend to replicate confusion and bombardment. When physical pieces of the newspaper are destroyed or simply cut out it is reflective of how much of the news can be used as a distraction from real impactful issues. To me, the crumbling of the articles paired with impactful words is my visual representation of what it feels like to read newspapers in today's political climate. All other words seem like place fillers compared to the ones that stir up the most reaction from the audience. For these pieces, I also worked with harmonious and contrasting imagery with different mediums. This method also worked with my perception of what stood out to me in each of the articles.
