The Youth Climate Strike – September 2019

For this piece, I wanted to illustrate the common trend in the media of passing all responsibility of the Climate Strike movement and its goals and requests onto the children that carry it on their backs. The message the children try to raise is that adults should be taking responsibility for their own actions and their impact on the environment, and that they should take the reigns and find a solution themselves. Children should not be giving up their childhood to fight for it themselves. However, the media instead focuses on these children as the saving grace, and never really speak of accountibility that they themselves possess. Therefore, we should all just listen to the kids.
